Backup-Scheme / Backup-Tools / Backup-Your Eyes Out II
So, there i was after trying rsync and unison, looking for another program to try. I found one:
I looked at:
jfilesync (website HERE)
- like the name tells us we are now entering java-territory
- very GUI based, you need to click to get the job done. If you're unlucky even do it a lot.
- It is Open-Source, which is nice
- It's java (i congratulate me for putting it that way. Java polarizes. Some people like it. Some people would prefer their testicles being bitten into by a rabis-infected Squirrel while standing naked in a Blizzard upon a Hill in Yukon, Alaska over using a Java-GUI-Tool be it AWK or SWING.
(and yes i did not say anything more about it being java)
I did also look into iFolder by Novell... but it's a little too enterprisey for my taste right now. You need a Server for the Sync. And if you do not want it to be that way, you need some kind of peer-to-peer stuff. It's designed to make Network Backups in a Heterogenous environment and from the looks of it i guess it'll do that pretty good. But it's just not the right tool for the job here.
So right now i have 2 Options, unison who sometimes does strange things and JFileSync who does not do strange things until i tell it to.
